FAQ
Questions, answered.
What is Selfwritten?
Selfwritten is an iPhone and iPad app for writing your own affirmations, reminders, mantras and manifestations, building a vision board with photos and video, recording who you are and what you value, journaling each evening, and writing letters to your future self. Everything in it is written by you.
How is Selfwritten different from other affirmation apps?
Most affirmation apps give you thousands of pre-written quotes. Selfwritten gives you none: every card, goal, value and letter is in your own words, and you can record them in your own voice. It also brings the daily pieces of self-growth together in one calm app: morning cards, a vision board, an identity page, an evening journal with gratitude, letters to your future self, and a breathing space for hard days.
Is Selfwritten private? Does it track me?
Selfwritten has zero tracking, no ads, no social feed and no analytics. What you write, photograph and record stays on your devices and syncs only through your own private iCloud, which the developer cannot access.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up or login. Your content follows your Apple ID through iCloud, and Premium follows your Apple ID through the App Store.
Does Selfwritten sync between iPhone and iPad?
Yes. Sign in to the same Apple ID with iCloud turned on, and your cards, vision board, journal and letters appear on both. On a new device, tap Restore purchases once to bring back Premium.
What is free, and what is in Premium?
Free includes up to 7 cards, 6 vision board goals with photos, Who I Am and your values, the evening journal with the last 7 days in view, Ground me, two ambient sounds, morning and evening reminders, and a widget showing your newest card. Premium adds unlimited cards and goals, video on your vision board, recordings in your own voice, AI writing help, letters to your future self, all six sounds, your full journal history, and a widget that moves through all your cards. Nothing you write is ever removed if you stop paying.
How much does Selfwritten cost?
Selfwritten is free to download. Premium is $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year with a one-week free trial, or $69.99 once for lifetime access (US prices; the App Store shows your local price).
Can I write my own affirmations and hear them in my own voice?
Yes. Writing your own is the whole idea. With Premium you can record any card, or the words you read in Ground me, in your own voice.
Does Selfwritten have a vision board with video?
Yes. Add up to eight photos at a time, choose full-width tiles, add a short note or nothing at all, and with Premium add videos too. Open the board full screen and claim a goal each day.
Does Selfwritten have a widget?
Yes, for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. You can choose to show all your cards or only mantras, affirmations, manifestations or reminders.
What are letters to myself?
A Premium feature for writing to your future self. Keep a letter open, or seal it until a date you choose, such as your birthday. On that morning a reminder tells you it is ready to open.
How does the AI writing help work? Is my writing used to train AI?
Polish suggests a clearer version of what you wrote, and Create it for me writes four card ideas from the feelings you pick. You always choose whether to keep a suggestion. Only the text you are working on is sent to OpenAI to write the suggestion; it is not stored by Selfwritten, and OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default.
Is Selfwritten available on Android?
Not yet. Selfwritten is for iPhone and iPad first.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Selfwritten. You can also open Settings → Membership inside the app.
Can I give Selfwritten as a gift?
Yes. Gift codes unlock Premium for the person you give them to. They redeem their code at selfwritten.app/gift.
